Palace of Peculiarities

Submitted by Jonathan Smith on Sun, 2006-08-06 03:42. in: Strange Auctions

Have you heard of Golden-Palace.com? They';re one of countless online casino sites, but this one has a fascinating draw. The site is now infamous for purchasing some of the wildest online auction items in the history of eBay.

A couple years ago, Golden Palace placed the winning bid for a special grilled cheese sandwich. Apparently, one side of it bore the face of the Virgin Mary. Although the woman selling it claimed it had brought her good luck, she sure didn';t hold back from selling it for $28,000. Now that';s good luck!

Other items purchased for exorbitant sums buy the site are an alleged sea monster, Britney Spears';s pregnancy test, an x-ray or a duck with what looks like an alien in its stomach, a Lego block portrait of Conan O';Brien, a french fry that looks like Abraham Lincoln, as well as many other assorted items (such as sheet metal and a log) bearing the faces of Jesus or the Virgin Mary.

Lol Bob,

That was pretty strange. Well, as that auction ended with no bids, from a starting bid of just $0.99, I think we can safely say that if you want to make it big from weird auctions on eBay you're going to have to do better than selling "a single cheerio".

I mean, c'mon... at least the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich was a satisfying meal.
